It is easy to get lost in everything that is going on around us right now. It is easy to succumb to the negativity and uncertainty that comes with the territory of a pandemic. It is even easier to fall into despair and become hopeless about the days ahead.

People dying, businesses closing, schools online, no churches or social gatherings, are only a few of the issues we are currently facing as a global community.
Watching the news for just a few minutes is enough to scare or depress us for hours to come.
Candidly, I find it difficult to find hope in this unconventional time. That is, until I came across the following quote by Pope Shenouda III: “God exists, All works for good, it is sure to end,” the phrase many Egyptians know as, "ربنا موجود, كله للخير, و مسيرها تنتهى" - "Rabena Mawgood, Kolo Lel Kheir, We Meserha Tentehee." This phrase has been far from my mind for so long. It is interesting, because I was not even searching for that phrase. Nor was I looking up any information about Pope Shenouda. This message of hope reminded me that for better or for worse, everything is bound to come to an end. Trusting in God helps us get through much of what we face daily. His existence is enough to restore our humanity and hope in the world.
It is easy for us to slowly lose our identity during this time. It is even easier to lose our humanity, putting ourselves before others to stay alive. Falling prey to our most primal instincts may help us survive for a while, but is losing our identity and forsaking our humanity worth it, in the long run?
Trust God with all that you have. We may not know what tomorrow, or even today, holds. But we can rest assured that God holds our tomorrow.
In the meantime, consider the following song as you fight the Good Fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0M3X3_pFD4
This is a good reminder to all of us, as we navigate these difficult times.
Smile and pray; it will all be okay :) For He guides our way, in compassion and in grace.
We are going to get through this together! God is with us!
